This mark literally gave my client a head start in the very competitive women’s haircutting business. The owner boasted many years of experience and styling awards, and wanted to establish her own independent shop She had created a great name, “sekoi,” essentially a nonsense word that was both neutral and memorable. She needed a look that would transcend trends, yet carry the feel of very-high-end European fashion and cosmetics. A couple of months of research and experimentation led to this fanciful combination of facial features, calligraphy, bamboo shapes and fashion-label type tricks. To implement, we started with the exterior sign, store bags, folding appointment cards and related stationery, then later provided drawings, comprehensive design and branding criteria for private-label haircare products and a custom hairstyle photo-catalog.
