This was a proposed solution for retail and product identification. The client wanted me to explore using an existing bird symbol and generate a four-letter name that would resonate both internally and externally in the adult-use cannabis industry. I isolated and re-drew the bird symbol, which got me thinking about how to create a four-character retail-ready business name that’s both powerful and not “industry-generic.”

The idea of bird migration as a leadership or predictive notion brought me to the word Bode. The dictionary says it means “predict, portend, or foretell” – but “bode” doesn’t sound scary like ”omen.” And it also just happens to be the last name of a revered underground artist who was a leader in 1970s & 80s pot culture, Vaughn Bode. Phonetically, it’s similar to bird, bud – sets off the bird drawing nicely.
